Garuda temple

I happened to go to a Garuda temple. Yes Garuda. It was actually the only temple in the world dedicated to Garuda, Lord Vishnu's vahana. It's in a village called Koladevi, few minutes from Mulbagal, KA, India.

The statue is on a rock and can be seen with Lord Vishnu in right hand and Sita on left hand. Lord Vishnu is looking at hanuman, which is another shrine next to it.

When the ravana abducts Sita, Jatayu comes and tries to help her. Ravana fights the bird and cuts off its wings. One wing apparently fell here and hence its very auspicious. The priest tells the story in more detail.

Here many doshas are said to be removed and released. Ie your karma is said to be cleansed. Kuja dosha, ashta sarpa dosha etc. Supposedly gaining lot of popularity these days.

We went to another Ganesha temple nearby called Kurudamalay. The statue was so huge.

An interesting day over all. Hope this info helps someone. tc.
